Welcome to the Aviation GIS Applications blog. This is a blog about wide range of uses GIS, including a lot of Python scripting, to deal with aviation content, unsurprisingly in aviation industry.

But don’t worry – if you are not particularly interested in aviation and related issues but you are eager to learn, or just need to know how to:

• use Python to parse files to extract data, convert data among various formats
• use Python to automate task 
• use Geographic Information System (GIS) desktop software to analyze and visualize data, prepare maps
• use Python (again, there will be a lot of Python here) to extend functionality of GIS software by creating customized tools
• use PostgreSQL database with PostGIS extension to insert, store, retrieve and manipulate data with using GIS software, and – you are correct – Python
